Williams Promoted to Sergeant Major

One of Abilene’s own, Rodney Earl Williams, attained the rank of Sergeant Major in the United States Army. He graduated from the Sergeant’s Major Academy at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas on May 21.{{more}}Rodney Williams joined the Army in January of 1989 and for the past 20 years has worked in Public Affairs. Rodney additionally has served combat tours in Desert Shield / Storm, the Bosnian war, and in Iraq in support of the ongoing Global War on Terrorism. He has been stationed in Europe 11 of his 20 years in the military and will be heading back to Europe this summer. He will work as the first public affairs sergeant major of the Joint Multi-National Training Center in Grafenwohr, Germany. Rodney is an Alumni of Hardin-Simmons University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications in 1985. He is currently attending Webster University and working towards a Masters Degree in Business of Organizational Security Management. Rodney is married to Angela Williams and has two children, Anthony and Ashley . He is the son of Earl and Wynell Williams of Abilene, Texas.
