Who’s Betting Now Part I of II“Oh’ American soccer gods: if you do indeed exist, watch over US while we play in the tournament of the galaxy and our-never anticipated emergence on the global platform hinges on our own country’s supposedly die-hard followers’ intentions to officially profit on our easily predicted demise…. “ -A fourth grade prep student wrote it 1994 and submitted as a History assignment on the given subject of “How would you describe America’s Struggle now…… “Automatic Fail: Terrible Grammar…. You didn’t win here…..” -The fourth grade prep student’s feedback. The ensuing narrative…It was the summer of fun- universally- the beach was crowded, the college campus security guard played ‘hacky-sac’ with snobby fraternity hopefuls, clad in Red, White and Blue Speedos and only unpleasantly developing chest-hair that was mistakenly complimented by the United States of America Flag they so insecurely hid behind… This was never a hazing issue. Nothing like the automatic sun-burn that eagerly waited to stamp East Coast tourists on the Pier. The fishermen there had enough sense to stick with the steady Stars and Stripes… Enter: Team USA, 56 years lost since a squad primarily composed of Scottish Immigrants opened the flood gates for American ‘Futbol’ criticism…. Had social media been prominent a half-century ago perhaps the war between Nike and Adidas would’ve cut losses and merged to form a Super Team. “Do y’all sell soccer shoes here, sir…? Was the transcendence meant like a quest of sorts…. to guide the folks in the swamp that were misinformed and mislead, by misinformed and mislead people…. One Team….. One Journey“Oh American soccer gods, we’re beginning to believe you do indeed exist… watch over US while we play in the tournament of the galaxy and our progressive dispatch of the opponents we compete against…. Why would anyone bet against us….?” -A former 4th grade prep student wrote in 2014 and submitted as a History assignment on the given subject of “Deadline is the 25th @12:00AM”….. “You’re still not quite punctuating your statements correctly. At time’s I have trouble understanding the point you’re attempting to make” -The former fourth grade prep student’s feedback The ensuing narrative… Is to be continued….
