White attends Harvard University

Ms. Ledessa White, Assistant Director of Elementary Education in the Abilene Independent School District, recently attended Harvard {{more}} to analyze the latest brain research on diverse learners. The brain, the most powerful tool that a student brings to the classroom is highly complex. In recent years, unprecedented progress and new discoveries about the brain are reshaping our understanding of how individuals learn. Ms. White said ” Educators must ensure that ALL students are actively engaged in learning and are appropriately supported regardless of their cultural background or learning style. More emphasis should be placed on cultural diversity so we can help[ students improve on high stakes testing. In turn, every part of the community will benefit from our efforts.” White concluded by saying ” Providing equal access to every learner requires more than simply supplying each student with a textbook and a computer.
