Yesterday I was looking at my Facebook likes and saw that I have been unliked by five fans. My initial thoughts were what did I say or do? So I decided to check my Insights. Insights are the statistics behind Facebook. It contains information about how engaged or viral posts are. Below you will see why Facebook fans may unlike you. However, don’t worry because true fans will stay to support your business. {{more}}Posting too much: I have experienced this a time or two. I have a business lady that I follow that posts about 15 to 20 times per day. I have hid some of her posts and plan on unliking her soon.Posting irrelevant content: It has been said that content is king. Remember when posting try to make 80% of the post related to the industry that your company is in.Fans that have only liked your Facebook page for a giveaway: Earlier this year we gave away a Kindle Fire to a fan that would like and share our page. After that giveaway, we did not have one for a while. Many of the fans that we had from the contest are now long gone. However, some have stayed to see what our Facebook page is all about. The key is to give away a prize that your target audience would like. For example, free advertising will generate interest from small business owners. Not posting enough: While perusing Facebook pages, I have seen many companies that post maybe once a month or even less. The engagement of their fans is very low. Posting more frequently allows you to have conversations with fans and to better understand their needs.Facebook clean-up: This is one that I have read about. Facebook did a cleanup back in 2012. Facebook eliminated likes that fail to legitimize themselves . Facebook estimated the number of fake accounts at 83 million, representing 8.7% of its 955 million active accounts. It is important to take some steps to remedy losing fans by posting consistently and giving relevant information. Also, try to target giveaways to fans you would like to have. However, don’t take it to heart when you are unliked on Facebook. There are many other reasons why a fan would unlike your page. At least it’s not like Texas HoldEm Poker, which lost more than 100 thousand fans in 24 hours! If you are interested in a Facebook Strategy session to increase likes, check out our products page at www.JoshuaMarketingGroup.com.
