Tickets Go On Sale for McMurry Homecoming Show “The Music Man”

By Gary Ellison Associate Director University Relations

ABILENE, Texas – Tickets for the 2009 McMurry Homecoming Musical, The Music Man by Meredith Willson, will go on sale Monday, Sept. 28 in the lobby of the Amy Graves Ryan Fine Arts Building on the McMurry University Campus. Performances will be October 15-17 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 18 at 2:00 p.m. in Radford Auditorium. Box Office hours are from 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and on all performance days. General admission seats are $12 for the Friday and Saturday performances. Student tickets and all seating for the Thursday evening and Sunday matinee performances are $10. An affectionate look at Smalltown, U.S.A. of a bygone era, The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. This award-winning, critically acclaimed Broadway classic is an all-American institution, thanks to its quirky characters, charming dramatic situations, and one-of-a-kind, nostalgic score of rousing marches, barbershop quartets and sentimental ballads which have become popular standards. The production will be directed by Dr. Philip Craik with musical direction by Amanda Hollis, set design by Charles Hukill and costumes by David Ainsworth. For further information call the McMurry Theatre Box Office at 325 793-3889 during regular box office hours.
