All thelights dimmed as the drama team from the Dream Center played their part in askit at a recent church service. Sneaking from one scenario to another, themain actor dressed in black from top to bottom portrayed the “Shadow”. Lyrics from a song blended in during theskit. There is a dark cloud gathering over theland of liberty…as the prince of darkness is proclaiming Satan… There is a young one with a bible and theshadow is trying to discourage him…..In the name of Jesus…bless thatenemy…..let the church rise!!!! `Gentle healing…gentle lambs..isJesus….was bought with the power of theblood of Christ…let us rise…let us rise…. “When I was young, I was so fearful of everything because I did notunderstand. I had a complex, but I could not get along with anybody. I was sobothered with school. The teacher even fought me because I was so shy.Everything I did in my life, I regret. If I were to live my life over again, Iwould do it differently. Those things hindered me. I know I would do thingsdifferently because I have failed. In college, others would say, “Zeke, youwill never amount to anything or be in leadership because of your personality”shared Pastor Eskiel Pecina, about his past. {{more}} His sermon about the past, and howmany of us get taunted by something that happened in the past and the demonicspirit that reminds us is what he calls the “shadow”. Pecina plays the part ofthe narrator as he is followed by the “shadow” to every scenario. He also leadsthe actors that play the prayer warriors out of the audience as they kneel downwith hands extended toward the ones on the altar floor at the end of the skit. “A young lady is sitting herethinking about what happened to her a long time ago when she was little. Maybeher Daddy left her or abandoned her. A shadow follows her all her life. Shadowscontinue to follow her. She is bothered. What ever happened when you wereyoung, I wonder if it bothers you? What about you? If you continue living inthe past, are you bothered?” said Pastor Eskiel Pecina. Another scenario was about a fatherwho was in jail. “I wonder what hethinks about when he gets out. He did dope and drugs and he come back. He’s gotchildren and he has a wife. She is tormented because her husband is lockedaway. The children ask why everyone’s Daddy is at home and not theirs. Theshadow continues to make him feel guilty.” It is time to move on to the nextscenario of young people with the “shadow” following Pastor Pecina. “Young people that are bound by things theyhave done. They feel the whole world is looking at them as they are bound.Whether it is because of drugs or alcohol, there is a shadow that comeseveryday to destroy them.” “It is not you. It’s that whichcontinues to hinder you. When you accept Jesus as your personal Savior, allthose things from your past that bother you will begin to disappear,” PastorPecina said. In his sermon, he talksabout how in the bible there were many that were tormented by their shadowsthat caused them to fail. Pecina mentions a few like; KingSolomon and how he lost his crown when he disobeyed God after he wanted to dohis own thing and play another role of priest instead of King. He talks abouthis shadow that tormented the King every day. He wanted to do whatever hewanted to, and not follow God’s order. Malacali also was disobedient and didnot destroy what was not of value in his life which included ungodlyrelationships. According to Pastor Pecina, thereare different areas that the tormenting spirits try to attack people and theirfamilies. Every time you get closer to God. Why? It’s the shadow who is tryingto keep you from getting involved. He attacks our finances. We cannot get itdone. We blame us. We feel guilty. We don’t rest. We get jealous abouteverything. We become unhappy, unfulfilled and discouraged. It is theresponsibility of the Shadow to torment you. It is how you respond is whatbecomes your end result. If you do not permit him to control your life, you canlive a fulfilled life.” He said. Pastor Pecina gives three ways toget rid of the tormenting “shadow” in our lives. 1) Accept Jesus Christas your Savior 2) Be filled in the HolySpirit….Luke 12:1-4 You will never make it inyour life alone unless you have the Holy Spirit. You will never have victoryover the shadow without the Holy Spirit. 3) Utilize the weapons that Godhas given you, and one important one is Prayer and reading thebible. Getting connected to a churchbody. “I know thatsome of you people are struggling out there and the shadow continues to tormentyou. I want you to let it go today. He comes to hinder and torment you so youare not capable of living a good life for the Lord. He wants to destroy you andyour relationships with others. That is why you cannot get up every morningbecause the shadow follows you because of bad experiences. It producesaffliction and misery,” said Pastor Pecina.
