There is adifference between genuine integration and mere assimilation of the minorityculture in the majority culture. We want to help parents be attentive to thesubliminal ways in which a second class status is implanted in the subconsciousminds of African American Children. Parents will be trained to observe andstudy their children’s schools to make sure the learning environment isnon-threatening and culturally and racially inclusive. We will equip parentswith solid research information that will empower them to be most effective ininsuring their children’s quality education. Parents will examine andcritically review the content that is taught to their children, especially inthe area of history, math and science. On May 23, 2012, The Abilene Black Parents Association will be having a 2012 Education Forum beginning 7:00 pm at Mt.
