The 2015 Outstanding Individual in the Arts Award goes to Randy Piersall

By Sidney Levesque, Marketing DirectorABILENE, TX – The 2015 Abilene Art Awards were presented Friday, June 26 to outstanding volunteers and contributors to local arts and cultural groups.The evening begin with a wine and cheese reception from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Center for Contemporary Arts, 220 Cypress St. The 21 awards were presented on the Historic Paramount Theatre stage immediately prior to the performance of “Les Miserables” .The Abilene Art Awards are sponsored by the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council. The program started in 1984. In addition to the awards presented on behalf of the arts groups, the ACAC also gives an overall[[more]]individual and business award.The 2015 Outstanding Individual in the Arts Award goes to Randy Piersall, a former ACAC board president and current board member whose commitment to the arts reflects his belief in the important role the arts play in the quality of life in Abilene and the economic boost the arts provide. Piersall is owner of Piersall Funeral Directors.The recipient for the 2015 Outstanding Business Award goes to the Junior League of Abilene for its tremendous support of the arts in Abilene. The Junior League has helped start arts programs in Abilene and partners each year with the ACAC on the Children’s Art & Literacy Festival not only helping with grants, but with volunteer hours in numerous capacities.
