Steve Abel Retires from the Better Business Bureau

A ceremony was held at the Abilene Country Club honoring Steve Abel, who’s retiring from the Abilene Better Business Bureau after more than 20 years. Steve has been on the front line in helping protect consumers in the area from fraudulent activities. He has been that voice of reason when someone really thought that they had won a million dollars.Anthony Williams, Mayor Pro-Tem presented a Proclamation stating that Tuesday January 17th, 2017 as Steve Abel Day. Abel also received a very nice travel voucher from the Board of Directors of the BBB. {{more}} “I don’t need to tell you guys what a wonderful place we live in, but we do,” Abel said.Abel said he wants more time to relax after beginning his job as president and CEO of the Abilene Better Business Bureau more than 20 years ago.There was a steady line of well wishers on hand to congratulate Steve for a job well done and to thank him for his service.In addition to enjoying the delicious hors d’oeuvres s and cake many of his friends took time to pen some special heartfelt remarks on a card for him. “Steve’s done a great job,” said John Riggins the new president and CEO for the Abilene Better Business Bureau. “He left a good foundation for us, and I just hope to carry the mantle and go forward.”Steve has been a regular contributor to the West Texas Tribune. We appreciate him and wish him and his wife Nancy the very best as he retires.
