Abilene will light up with star power during the 2013-2014 Broadway Season with television stars from the most popular dance shows and a special star appearance from one of the most popular television shows in sitcom history. Last season, Abilene audiences reached record numbers when attending the Broadway series shows and this year looks to be even bigger! This fall, Celebrity Attractions and the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council kick off their fifth season of presenting national Broadway tours in Abilene.Warming up a November evening is the season opener BALLROOM WITH A TWIST. Created and choreographed by Louis van Amstel , audiences welcome their favorite dancers from TV’s hottest dance reality programs, professional international dancers and a pair of American Idol finalists for an evening full of Samba, Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Jive. BALLROOM WITH A TWIST sizzles with energy that will ignite the stage. {{more}}Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, the smash hit Broadway musical, is coming back to Abilene for one performance only! Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this eye-popping spectacle has won the hearts of over 35 million people worldwide. This classic musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters, lavish sets and costumes, and dazzling production numbers including “Be Our Guest” and the beloved title song. “This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius,” as the song goes from the classic rock musical HAIR. The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical is touring the nation after a successful Broadway revival. Groundbreaking at its time, the musical introduced “Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In” to American Top 40 charts as well as the title song “Hair.” HAIR gives audiences a look back at the 1960s and through a lens that may show how themes from that day are still extremely relevant.The Broadway classic HELLO, DOLLY! Starring Sally Struthers will introduce a new set of theatregoers to the classic story adapted from Thorton Wilder’s The Matchmaker. Sally Struthers plays meddling matchmaker Dolly Levi who, after her husband’s passing, is welcomed back into society at full throttle when she finds a potential match for herself while arranging the love connection for others.
