ABILENE, Texas – The City of Abilene Senior Services Division was recently recognized as the recipient of the Cornerstone Award from the Aging in Texas Conference. The award is given to a group that is making a significant contribution to the senior citizens community. James Childers, Director of Community Services, attributes the success of Senior Services to the staff. “I think this award is yet another testament to the fact that we have an excellent Senior Services staff here in Community Services. Our staff partners with the numerous volunteers and outside groups to provide the absolute best experience to our senior citizens,” Childers said. {{more}} The Senior Services Division is home to five senior centers across Abilene. Senior Citizens have the freedom to choose the facility they wish to attend, allowing them to experience new classes, programs and people. The ability to meet the needs of transportation, meals and opportunities to remain active and social, make Abilene’s services stand out amongst senior centers in Texas.
