Royals Memorial Banquet a Success

The Claudie C. Royals Memorial Celebration was held at the Abilene Civic Center. Brandon Jones, who is employed at the University of Tennessee, was the Keynote Speaker. He said, “We must carry on the mission that Claudie started, we must reconnect the old with the youth.” The evening was filled with songs of praise and several students were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments. Mr. Earl Williams was recognized as a business owner. This year, the Royal Torch was passed to the children. Mrs. Lula Royals, the widow of Claudie Royals, passed in January 2014.{{more}}Councilman Robert Briley and his wife, Lou, are great supporters of the Claudie Royals Day. Photo by Floyd MillerSgt.
