Jim Barr and Barr Roofing challenges area roofers to give back to their community ABILENE, TX – During a busy time for area roofing companies, Jim Barr, president of Barr Roofing Company, has issued a challenge to other local roofing companies — give back to your community through United Way of Abilene. Barr Roofing has issued a corporate gift to United Way and will host an employee campaign later this month and is encouraging other roofing companies to do the same. “As a local company, it is important for us to give back to the people of this community, and United Way is an excellent organization to partner with,” said Barr. Four other roofing companies have responded to Barr’s challenge. Briercroft Roofing, Lydick-Hicks Roofing, Knight Roofing, and Sitton Roofing have all made a commitment to give to United Way through the first ‘Roofers Giving Back’ challenge. “We’re looking for more companies to join the inaugural challenge,” said Barr. “We want to raise awareness of United Way and the needs they are helping meet.” The challenge officially kicked off this week and will wrap up on December 31st. A winner will be announced in January 2015. Roofing companies interested in participating in the Roofers Giving Back challenge should call Tom Ambrose, Director of Development at 677-1841. Contributions made through the challenge will go to United Way of Abilene’s Annual Giving Campaign. The Annual Giving Campaign secures investments from individuals and businesses to meet community needs. Volunteers direct dollars invested by community members to local non-profit programs. In 2014, $1.3 million was invested in 30 programs that benefit children and families in West Central Texas.
