Resolution names Feburary 15th of each year Claudie C. Royals Day

The City Council of Abilene, Texas met in regular session at 8:30 am on February 26th, 2009. There were several items on the agenda, however the highlight for many was theMayor signing a resolution proclaiming Feb.15th each year Claudie C. Royals Day. {{more}}A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ABILENE SETTING FEBRUARY 15TH OF EACH YEAR ASCLAUDIE C. ROYALS DAY. WHEREAS, Claudie C. Royals was an essential thread in the fabric of the Abilene community; and WHEREAS, He dedicated his life to helping others – sharing with them his greatest gift: “a life surrendered to the service of others”; and WHEREAS, The Annual MLK Day March, the Nelson Wilson, Sr. Park, the annual “Back to School Picnic” for youth; and the H.O.P.E. Drug Counseling Center are among his many efforts to enhance the lives of the citizens of our city; and WHEREAS, The legacy of Claudie C. Royals is one of service to his fellow man faith And freedom. THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ABILENE, TEXAS, THAT; SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Abilene sets out February 15th of each year to be known as Claudie C. Royals Day. SECTION 2: The legacy of Claudie C. Royals is one of service to his fellow man, faith, and freedom. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall take effect immediately.PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 26TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2009.
