Our 2011-2012 Pops Concert Series carries on the tradition of bringing outstanding performances from up-and-coming as well as nationally acclaimed artists. On December 3rd, ring in the holiday spirit with Christmas Pops. It will have everyone’s holiday favorites featuring Travis Cloer, Kristen Hertzenberg, the UNT A Cappella Choir and the McMurry University Warhawks Drumline. Bring the entire family and celebrate the joy of the season with us. There is an added special matinee at 3 p.m. in addition to the 8 p.m. performance. {{more}}“We are very excited about our Christmas Pops this year. Not one, but two Las Vegas stars as our vocal soloists, dancers, a world-class choir, lots and lots of holiday favorites mixed with new surprises, and even a brand new Hannukah medley. We’re going to have a lot of fun.” stated David Itkin, music director and conductor. Our 3PM Matinee is specially priced for families with general admission seating. Children under age 6 are FREE and children ages 6-17 are just $5. Adult tickets are $15 and students, military, or seniors are $10. Dyess Air Force Base families can contact the Airman and Family Readiness Center for FREE tickets thanks to support from NextEra Energy through the Philharmonic’s TicketReach Program. All military families with spouses that have deployed or will be deployed during our concert season can receive FREE tickets to the 3PM Matinee concert. Matinee sponsors are Rentech and First Financial Bank.Our 8PM evening concert has been a traditional community favorite, so get your tickets now while seats are still available! Tickets range from $22-$41 for the 8PM concert with reserved seating. The evening performance is sponsored by Suddenlink.Before the Matinee performance Gourmet Girlz will be set up in the Civic Center foyer from 1:30 – 3:00PM for you to design your own cookie. Cookies are $.50 each. Prior to the evening concert, enjoy Betty Nelson’s famous cakes from 7 – 7:45PM in the Civic Center foyer. Betty’s cake slices are $5. During intermission, whole cakes are available for purchase for $20. In its 61st year, the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra is one of Abilene’s oldest performing arts organizations. Led by Music Director and Conductor David Itkin, the Philharmonic is the only professional orchestra within 80 miles of Abilene and draws audiences from more than 50 Texas cities.
