By Frances Gonzalez-Boyd A refreshing rain that everyone has been praying for did not keep the tent revival that Love and Care Ministries usually holds each year from being held. Pastor Mark Hewitt who has been in charge of the ministry for many years was able to hold the revival that everyone looks forward to New Hope Church last month with permission from Pastor Chuck Farina . The revival attracts many who are members of the Mission church that is affiliated with the Love and Care Ministries. It is local community social service Christian ministry that has a food pantry, clothes closet, and also assists with paying with utility bills for those that are struggling to make ends meets. The tent revival which is usually set up downtown by the new courthouse has a praise and worship team playing music, has different preachers sharing the word, and many giving testimonies. This year, a guest speaker was flown in from California for the special event. She was an evangelist who was humorous in her preaching while giving her testimony. The audience was laughing continually during her speech. She recognized some of the members of the Mission church that were present who has received help from the Love and Care Ministries, and shared in her own words with them how their blessings would also be able to spread the joy to others. She also asked them to give thanks to Pastor Hewitt whose dedication to the ministries has continued to be Godsend. She knelt down in front of all the people that she had called to the front, and said a prayer for them, and also had them repeat the prayer. At the end, all the people who wanted to go up to the front and join in to pray for each other did so. Pastor Hewitt called a few people to the sanctuary that he wanted to recognize and who he knew that have come a long ways from when he first shared Jesus with them while they were homeless or helped them meet their needs to today’s testimonial transformation. Hewitt shared a few words and prayer and gave thanks to God for the awesome opportunity for the continual testimonies of salvation that keep adding up because of him and his team in his evangelism ministry.
