Operation Blue Jeans

By Floyd Miller

Christian Service Center’s “Operation Blue Jeans” is up and running! Each eligible child from a low-income family receives a pair of jeans and two pairs of socks and underwear to start the school year. Last year, more than 600 children received new clothing. In addition, the Center gives every child who needs a Bible an age-appropriate copy of the Scriptures. The Center also works with local schools in giving children who need free school supplies. The center gives these items to schools; parents need to notify their school counselors if their child needs supplies. Parents need to call the Center at 673-7531 to make an appointment to bring in their children for their new school clothes. The Center’s hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 – noon and 1 – 4. The Center will also be open on Saturday, August 5 from 9 – noon. The Christian Service Center is located at 901 Mesquite St., Abilene. If you have any questions, feel free to call the Center.
