November Art walk
By Joe Starkey
Something unusual happened to me during Art walk. I got to meet all three of the 2009 Nutcracker Clara dancers in one place. They were in front of the Contemporary Arts Center giving out information about this year’s production. Inside the CAC, a lot was happening. Upstairs was the Intercollegiate Student Art Competition while the photography gallery had a show on Adobe Abode which showed how to complete a domed adobe abode. We could use more of those here to use what little water and lots of clay we have. The main gallery has a great show of members work on the theme of “Black and White”.Outside came a new experience as the combined HSU ACU Tuba Euphonium was performing across the street. OK Tubas for the ohm pah in the back of the band but four of them? By themselves? Yeah – they sound pretty awesome. If you get a chance, go listen. The Cockerel/ACU Gallery is hosting the Big Country Art Show. It has some really nice work in it even if you don’t count the one of mine that is hanging in the show. Go down and see what I do when I’m not photographing for the paper.
