Our Kiwanian of the year was born in Caldwell, TX thesecond child of 5. The family moved toRoby, TX in the 40’s to try their hand at farming. While in Roby one of recipient’s sisters waslearning to play the piano–which she was not doing very well. Our recipient asked her what all the fuss wasabout and she told him, so the recipient sat down and within 30 minutes wasplaying songs from the book. He was also given 40 acres to farm but his fielddidn’t yield any cotton, so he joined the Air Force which he stayed in for 20years. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed allover the world including Vietnam during the war where he once met GeneralDaniel ‘Chappy’ James, who as one of the Tuskegee Airmen. While in Vietnam our recipient discoveredthere wasn’t any type of worship service so he, along with a few others, started a gospel worship service where he saw several of the Airmen give theirlife to Christ. {{more}} After the Air Force he worked for S&M Music Companyand when they went out of business he bought the service department and hasbeen in business for himself for over 30 years repairing and playing on churchorgans.
