Mr. Joseph Alexander named I CAN Hero

Mr.Joseph Alexander, was honored as the ICAN Hero and many of his family came fromall over Texas to watch him being honored. Thespeaker, Dr. Kelvin Kelly started out with the concept of “Heroes”. He first thought of Superman and others ofthat mold. This would leave everyone noton that level of super powers as the “little people” and that just does notdescribe the true heroes of today. Hebelieves that over 99% of people are passive and unable/not willing to make theeffort to change the world. ICAN eachyear honors men and women who dare to challenge the world and make neededchanges. They answer whatever challengewith “why not?” and work to change their neighborhood and eventually the world. {{more}} HEROES: See what others do not Do what others will not Act when others will not Are free to challenge Theremust be freedom for a people to be human. The Book of Galatians lists the qualities not of hero-super humans butof what a human is and does. Being ahero does not always mean being a leader as service is more important to thecommunity. We need to activate theheroes and re-image our lives and community and world. To become free andremain free – we need our children to become men and women. Children learn by observation – not bylecture/information dumps. They must seemen and women in their daily lives and grow into adults by observing the adultswho go before them live a life of honor, giving and creation. “You areborn into a culture. You choose yourcommunity.” “I thank ICAN for holding upthe banner and being observable.” Mrs.Tonya Hunter, is President of ICAN.
