2014 Schedule Free Support GroupsSchizophrenia Support Group1 – 2 p.m., meets every Monday at the Mental Health Association in Abilene, 333 Orange Street, Abilene. This group is for those who have schizophrenia and would like peer support.Chronic Pain and Depression Group11 a.m. – 12 p.m., meets every Thursday at the Mental Health Association in Abilene, 333 Orange Street, Abilene. The group is for those who have chronic pain and depression and would like peer support.Family Support Group6 – 7 p.m., meets every Tuesday at the Mental Health Association in Abilene, 333 Orange Street, Abilene. This group is to help support people who have family members/significant others in their lives that are living with challenging mental health conditions.Bipolar-Depression Support Group6 – 7:30 p.m., meets every Tuesday, at the Ministry of Counseling, 5201 N. 1st Street , Abilene. Enter the door and tell them you are there for the bipolar group. The group is for those who have bipolar disorder and would like peer support.Open Support Group for those with mental illness1 – 2 p.m., meets every Thursday, at the Mental Health Association in Abilene, 333 Orange Street, Abilene. This group is open for anyone who is in need of a sense of community among others who understand the challenges of living with a serious mental illness.Other Opportunities for Support and InformationWe have 3 Certified Peer Specialists who work one-on-one with people who are in recovery from mental illness. These peers are people who have been through the struggles of mental health challenges and are able to offer hope and encouragement and walk side-by-side with others. They have been through intense training and focus on changes that heal, not on illnesses.We do close for certain holidays. You may want to call on a few days before a holiday to find out if we are going to be open. All our services are free and do not require a referral.Call 325-673-2300 for more information.
