McMurry University named top tier, Most Diverse in latest U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges Guide

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University is proud to be recognized as a top-ranked institutionfor the 17th consecutive year by U.S. News and World Report Best CollegeGuide. McMurry also was again recognized as one of the mostracially-diverse universities in its region. McMurry competed with otherinstitutions in the Western Region of the Comprehensive Colleges-Bachelor’scategory for these rankings. “We are very pleased that U.S. News & WorldReport has recognized McMurry University as one of the top regionaluniversities in the nation,” said Dr. Paul Fabrizio, Vice President forAcademic Affairs at McMurry. “This recognition is a reflection of theUniversity’s continued commitment to providing a rigorous learning experiencethat provides students with the intellectual, social and career skills neededto excel upon graduation.” {{more}} Fabrizio said McMurry University is proud of itsfaculty, who are committed to excellence in teaching and to the pursuit ofscholarship. “They take seriously the responsibilities of teaching andlearning, but place equal importance on modeling what they teach as mentors.They help create an environment that is truly both supportive and challenging,and they are committed to helping students succeed and grow in every waypossible.” McMurry moved up one place to twelfth in the topranked institution in the Western Region. McMurry was ranked 5th in the MostDiverse category, with a Hispanic population of 20 percent. In all categories, the top 20 schools are numericallyranked, while tier 3 and 4 schools are listed alphabetically. According to U.S.News and World Report, rankings are based on seven categories: assessment byadministrators at peer institutions, retention of students, faculty resources,student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rateperformance.
