McMurry University English Honor Society
By Gary Ellison Associate Director University Relations
ABILENE, TX – McMurry University’s English honor society, Sigma Tau Delta, along with members of the English Club, recently collected children’s books from donors on campus during April to give to The Noah Project, a center for helping the victims of domestic violence. Through the generosity of campus donors, Sigma Tau Delta and the English Honor Society received 241 children’s books! These books will form the core of a children’s library for the Noah Project. Sigma Tau Delta and the English Club celebrated the collection of these books and the end of a successful year with an open-mic night on Thursday, May 29, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Ryan Art Center Lobby. During the evening, members of Sigma Tau Delta, the English Club, and members of the public read original works of poetry and played music for an appreciative audience of more than twenty people. While listening to the poetry and music, this crowd enjoyed refreshments provided by members of Sigma Tau Delta and the English Club. Sigma Tau Delta is sponsored by Mr. Christopher Andrews and Dr. Larry Bonds.
