McMurry University Education Senior Jazmin I. Elias-Sanchez named EDICUT Student of the Year for 2010

Abilene Texas – McMurry University Education major Jazmin I. Elias-Sanchez of Juarez, Mexico, is the recipient of the Education Deans of Independent Colleges and Universities in Texas award for the 2010-2011 school year. The award is given annually to an outstanding student in the McMurry School of Education. EDICUT presents the annual award to selected students who exhibit excellence in leadership on campus and in the community. {{more}} Ms. Sanchez-Elias is a member of Kappa Delta Pi and has been on the Dean’s list for the last six semesters. She has served as President of Koinonia and has also been Alumni Chair for the TIP Women’s Social Club. Ms. Elias-Sanchez was also elected as a Senator for McMurry Student Government and is a member of the Religious Life Diversity organization. Ms. Elias-Sanchez is a graduate of Lydia Patterson Institute in El Paso and will graduate from McMurry University on December 11, 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Bilingual Education. The award will be presented in the spring at the annual School of Education Advisory Committee meeting.
