Marion Armentha Wilson-Burgess was born February 8, 1942 in Chriesmon, Texas to the parentage of Nelson Charlie Wilson and Ozella Royann. Marion attended Woodson High School. She met the love of her life Gene Edward Burgess in 1956, and they married in 1959. The first time he laid eye on her, he said she would be his wife. She was only 14 years old. She traveled with her husband and children throughout the United States and abroad while Gene was in the Air Force. He retired in Abilene in 1979 and they remained here for the remainder of her life. Marion was the Director of the Christ House Day Care Center during her employment of 25 years in Abilene. She was a faithful, life-long member of the Greater St. Paul Community Church , a small loving church which was created by family members to include her father, Nelson. She served as an usher and sang in the choir. She had an extraordinary gift for loving and caring for people and especially children. She donated her time and service to the community and her family. Marion Wilson-Burgess passed away at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, August 22, 2013. {{more}}Left to cherish her memories are husband Gene E. Burgess, three daughters, D’Arcy L. Burgess; Desiree’ Burgess; and D’Edra E. Burgess, all of Huntsville, AL. Two sons, Daryl G. Burgess of Abilene and Dennis J.B. Burgess of Huntsville. One adopted daughter, Melissa Thibodeaux of Abilene. Brother, Nelson C. Wilson, Jr., , Abilene, Sister, Shirley Nowlin ; sister-in-laws, Rosa Wilson, Abilene and Barbara Robinson , Tucson, AZ. Madras Burgess, and Doris Burgess, Brother-in-law, Douglas Burgess, Oklahoma City, OK. Eleven grandchildren which she absolutely adored, Rory, Shannon, Andrea, Jasmine, Whitney, Aaron, Jacques, Jaraud, Daniela, Kiana, Michel, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Norman F. Wilson of Abilene.
