Luminarias for Veterans Day

Students and Faculty from Texas State Technical School spent many hours setting up luminarias to honor our veterans at the Civic Center steps on November 10th. Almost the entire entrance way to both wings of the center was covered in light.The ceremony was opened by Travis Quinn and Sarah Starkey from the HSU Cowboy Band playing the National Anthem on trumpet.A poem by Stormy Gale Richardson was read about a helicopter pilot in Korea that told of the brave men that have answered the call to arms for our country to bring freedom to all.Sergeant First Class Jimmy DeFoor told those gathered that we come to honor all who put on uniforms to serve our country and to give their lives as necessary. “Ordinary people did and are doing extraordinary things for our freedom. They gave us every day of freedom that we have enjoyed. Every generation has met this task.The ceremony was concluded with the playing of TAPS by Travis Quinn
