Local Organizations Partner to Host Special SEASONS of CARING Event

Abilene, TX – February 14, 2011 – As the number of senior citizens in our nation increases, many families find themselves asking, “What Are We Going To Do About Mom and Dad?” To help answer this question, SEASONS of CARING—a collaborative effort of the Alzheimer’s Association-North Central Texas Chapter, the Area Agency on Aging of West Central Texas, Pioneer Drive Baptist Church Missions Office, the Pruett Gerontology Center of Abilene Christian University, and Windcrest Alzheimer’s Care Center—is offering a special informational meeting for family caregivers. The event is scheduled for Thursday, March 10, 2011, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, located at 701 South Pioneer Drive, Abilene.{{more}} The program will include a presentation on “You and Your Aging Parents,” by Steve Wages, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Family Studies at Abilene Christian University, as well as opportunities to learn about local resources and network with other family caregivers. There is no cost to attend, but reservations are required. Respite assistance is available for qualifying family caregivers through the Area Agency on Aging of West Central Texas.
