Let’s go in forceBy Floyd E. MillerAs President of the Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce, I want to encourage you to attend the BRAC hearing. BRAC stands for Base Realignment and Closure. This is a very important day in the life of Dyess AFB and the City of Abilene. In the process, we may be able to pick up the B-Is from Ellsworth AFB, and we are also interested in holding on to our C-130’s.The hearing is in San Antonio, Texas on July 11, 2005 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The Abilene Chamber of Commerce and various businesses have organized and paid for FREE transportation by bus to the event. They are to be applaudedfor their generosity. Some of the reasons I think you should go:1) I think it is another opportunity to say to our active duty and retired military in the community that we support them.2) It will show the BRAC Committee that we are committed to Dyess AFB and that we believe the base is important to our community and the national defense of our country.3) This is an opportunity for you to visit with many of Abilene leaders who will be going to San Antonio. I guess we will be together for at least 10-12 hours. What an opportunity to get to know your leaders and share a few ideas. If you want to go, please call the Abilene Chamber of Commerce for reservations.Phone: 677-7241 or email email@example.com.
