Abilene, TXJimmy Lee James, Sr., 81 of Abilene, passed away at home on Monday, December 31, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the North 10th & Treadaway Church of Christ, 943 N. Treadaway Blvd. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Elliot-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Jimmy was a graduate of Carter G. Woodson High School, Abilene, Texas and Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. His career over the years included United Methodist Church of Abilene, Easter Machine & Manufacturing Company, and Lockheed Martin. And lastly, he retired from Hendricks Health System in 2008. At a young age, he was baptized into the Lord’s church. He was a faithful, lifelong member of North 10th and Treadaway Church of Christ. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Lee James of Abilene. Jimmy is also survived by his sons: Billy Charles James and wife, Ethylene of Abilene, Jimmy Lee James, Jr. and wife, Dorothy of Winters, Texas, Reginald Von James of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jacque Damone James and wife, Donna of Allen, Texas, and daughter-in-law, Abby James of Wichita Falls, Texas. Preceding Jimmy in death was his son, Myron Todd James of Wichita Falls, Texas. Jimmy is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by a brother, Billy Ray James, and wife, Marie of Carson, California, and sisters, Creovis Brown of Fort Worth, Iola Monroe of Bryan, Devora Dobson and Lenora Francis of Boston, Massachusetts.He was preceded in death by his parents: Pat James and Georgia Eaton James McAlister; two sisters, Ruby James, Pasty Brown, and Eva Nell James, and brothers, Charles and Leovis James.You may sign the online guestbook at www.elliotthamilfuneralhomes.comPublished in Abilene Reporter-News on Jan. 6, 2019
