AbileneIsiah “Butch” Gindratt, Sr., 90, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013, in Abilene, TX. Services will be 12:00 noon, Friday, October 18, 2013, at Praise Temple, 2490 Ambler Ave, with Pastor Samuel Tabor officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St., Abilene, Texas. Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Butch was born January 9, 1923 in Wortham, Texas, the son of Clyde and Mary Etta Foster Gindratt. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Butch retired from the U.S. Post Office after 32 years and had worked for 22 years at Waldrop Furniture. He was very active at his church, serving as chairman of the deacon board, church treasurer, and Sunday school superintendent and board trustee. He loved fishing and playing his guitar. {{more]}Butch was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen; and two sons, Isiah Gindratt, Jr. and Tony Gindratt.Survivors include his wife, Era Gindratt of Abilene; two sons, Larry Gindratt of Modesto, CA and Curtis and wife Bettye Gindratt of Abilene; daughter, Mildred and husband Kenneth Deckard of Abilene and special daughter, Era Johnson of Abilene; a sister, Elizabeth and husband Joe Brown of Albuquerque, NM; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Praise Temple, 2490 Ambler, Abilene, Texas 79603.You may view and sign the guestbook at www.elliotthamilfuneralhome.com
