Now that early voting has begun, your Abilene Public Library would like to remind you that we have free Voters Guides from the Texas League of Women Voters to help you make informed voting choices in the statewide Primary election. Election Day is Tuesday, March 4, 2014. This Voters Guide, which can be carried into the voting booth, lists candidates for 25 statewide and regional contested races in Texas, including U.S. Senator, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller of Public Accounts, Commissioner of General Land Office, Commissioner of Agriculture, Railroad Commissioner, Texas Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeals, Courts of Appeals, and the State Board of Education. Candidates provide their answers to questions posed by the League of Women Voters of Texas Education Fund.Guides are available in both English and Spanish at all library locations. The League of Women Voters is strictly nonpartisan; it neither supports nor opposes any amendment, position, party or candidate at any level of government. Each election year, the League publishes the Voters Guide to help citizens prepare to cast an informed vote. Additional information can be accessed online at www.VOTE411.org, including anonline Voters Guide with candidate videos and races not included in the printed VotersGuide. VOTE411 allows voters to enter an address and review races and ballot initiativesspecific to that address.
