Have you ever been caught “red-handed,” doing something you knew was wrong? How did you feel? You probably felt ashamed, embarrassed, humiliated, remorseful, and maybe even angry with yourself. Do you suppose that how Jonah felt as well?Jonah was on a ship, in the middle of a life-threatening storm. The sailors on board finally discovered he was the one responsible for the storm. I imagine they were yelling when they rhetorically asked “What have you done?” .We’ve probably yelled the same questions at ourselves a time or two, “What have I done? Look at the mess I’ve made!” It’s easy, when our sins catch up with us, to become overwhelmed with remorse and shame. I imagine that’s how Jonah felt when he said, “Pick me up and hurl me into the sea…for I know it is because of me that this great tempest has come upon you” . {{more}}I’m thankful for these moments of shame and remorse. For it is in these moments that we see, “Salvation belongs to the Lord” . It is in these moments that we see out God is the God who graciously saves us and gives us second chances. So, remember, no matter the mistakes you’ve made…I love you and God loves you,Wes McAdams
