Giants of the Renaissance” Student Art Display

By Floyd Miller

Clyde High School art students of Pamela Gilbreth Watkins will be displaying their miniature collages based on works by Renaissance artists at the Abilene Public Library from Tuesday, April 1 – Saturday, April 12, 2008. This is a chance to see original work from student artists. Ms. Watkins’ students did the collage project to compliment an in-depth study that the Art History class undertook on the lives of Leonardo and Michelangelo as part of their study of the Renaissance era. The collages are a mosaic effect similar in appearance to the mosaics of that period in Ravenna, but they are a faux treatment done in bits of colored magazine pages collaged onto outline drawings of masterworks by Leonardo and Michelangelo. The display will be featured during ArtWalk on Thursday, April 10.
