The HSU Art Department invites you to come see the new photographic drawing exhibition, “In Other Words,” in the Frost Center for the Visual Arts Ira M. Taylor Memorial Art Gallery, running October 31 – November 18, 2011. A special closing reception and artist gallery talk will be held on Thursday, November 17 from approximately 5:00 – 6:30 pm. Gallery hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The artist showcased is Hardin Simmons’ new Assistant Professor of Photography, Carrie Jones. This body of work by Jones explores the boundaries of what can be defined as a photograph. {{more}}Photographs of letters and text are used to symbolically represent language, and are digitally drawn together to form recognizable symbols that become expressions of Jones’ responses to her personal experiences, endeavors and stories. Jones received an MFA from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and has exhibited her work nationally as well as become a part of various private collections across Texas.
