Thanks to the generous patrons of the Abilene Public Library, our Food for Fines program has once more been a wonderful success for the library and the Food Bank of West Central Texas.During our 15th annual food drive in December, all three Abilene Public Library locations gathered more than 3,800 pounds of non-perishable food for those in need. Each December the library gives our patrons the opportunity to donate, and in turn, their overdue material fines are reduced by 1 dollar for each item donated. This ‘win-win’ program has been very successful through the years, with more than 65,000 pounds of canned and boxed food donated to people in need via the Food Bank since 1999.Our thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s drive!
