By Kelly Langford Thompson

The 4th Annual Tye Fourth of July Fireworks Show and Military Appreciation Day will take place on Saturday night, July 3rd, at Rister Park in Tye. Games, concession stands and vendors are scheduled throughout the day. A line-up of local musicians will begin at 4 p.m., while the fireworks show will start at dark. Admission to the event is free, and everyone is encouraged to come early. Last year’s event enjoyed a record-breaking attendance, and this year’s show will be the largest of its kind in the area. The music that accompanies the fireworks will be simulcast on all Cumulus Broadcasting radio stations: 99.7 KCBY; 98.1FM – KTLT, 102.7FM – KHXS and 103.7FM – KCDD .The event is sponsored by Big Country Support the Troops, Taylor Electric Cooperative, WesTex Connect, the City of Tye, Cumulus Radio, and many other generous organizations. To find Rister Park, just take the #277 exit off I-20 West and then head south on Highway 707. For more information, contact the Tye Chamber of Commerce at 695-8253.
