ABILENE,Texas – Abilene’s annual “Fall Clean” event will be held Oct. 11-13, 9 a.m. to4 p.m. daily at the City of Abilene Environmental Recycling Center located at2209 Oak St. Residentsmay bring furniture, wood, clothing, yard waste, scrap metal and home chemicalsto the event. Home chemicals should be boxed or bagged for easy removal forhazardous waste collection. Boats, concrete blocks, rocks, dirt and materialfrom major remodeling or demolition will not be accepted. Usable buildingmaterials intended for donation to theHabitat for Humanity ReStore will be accepted. {{more}} “Weencourage Abilene residents to use Fall Clean to help tidy up yards and garagesand beautify our city,” said City of Abilene Recycling Manager Bob Ervin. Dueto safety concerns, Oak Street will turn into a one way street with vehiclesentering from South 25th Street, on Saturday, Oct. 13th. Atthis year’s Fall Clean, citizens may bring up to eight passenger tires withoutrims, free of charge. However, truck tires without rims are $6 per tire andwith rims $8 per tire. Ag tires will be accepted without rims only for a $35per tire service fee. No commercial or business tires will be accepted.
