American Civil War! More than bullets and bombs!
Dr. Fred Bailey retired ACU History Professor will be teaching about the Civil War at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Texas Tech University, Abilene.
This class includes six lectures to thoroughly examine the conflict’s causes as well as highlight historical stresses which continue to impact American culture. The lectures will explore the social, intellectual, religious and emotional context of a nation on the brink of greatness even as it was also perched on the crevasses of unspeakable tragedy – all shadowed by human slavery.
Dr. Bailey has over 40 years of teaching experience. He is the author of two books and 80 professional articles and has received recognition and awards for his scholarly endeavors.
Dates for the classes are 2/5, 2/14, 2/21, 3/10, 3/19, 3/24. Time: 2-3:30 pm. Fee: $50 for all six days, or $10 per individual day.
