Easter Picnic

By Joe Starkey

The Saturday before Easter, Exodus Metropolitan Community Church and Unity Church shared fellowship, food and an Easter Egg Hunt at Kirby Park. Adults and children alike enjoyed the hamburgers, hot dogs and desserts.Prayer and the Easter Bunny shared a harmonious relationship. Many blessings were exchanged between the members of both churches while all ages took advantage of the Easter Bunny for individual and family portraits. This gathering is a continuation of a relationship started after the death of Unity Pastor Karen Johnson. MCT provided grief counselors the day after her death and every night for the next week. Several other churches in the Abilene Interfaith council also provided help and support. It was a glorious day. A slight overcast, breezy and very comfortable temperature day made it pleasant to be outside. New friends and old and children of all ages had fun. It was a great warm up for Easter Sunday.
