One is the role non-‐profits should have in the world. Smaller groups like Global Samaritan can have a major impact. I think Dr. Rice can address that. Huge institutions like The United Nations and governments can fail to make lasting change. One reason is they don’t know people by name. They’re detached. I believe this is especially true of Christian humanitarian aid organizations like Global Samaritan. I’m sure Dr. Rice will also address peace and war, and how we can move forward in a world of trouble. I’d like to hear a former Secretary of State address that, particularly one who grew up in the segregated south, the daughter of a Presbyterian Pastor, and an expert in Russian history… Dr. Rice has a unique set of experiences and perspective. I am grateful she agreed to come to Abilene.”“We also wanted to provide an event that is not a dinner event, but a lecture and discussion, an event with tickets students and our military can afford. We wanted a wider range of ticket prices. We believe we have done that. Dr. Rice will speak in the auditorium of the Civic Center. And afterward the audience can submit questions she will answer on stage. Our generous underwriters have helped provide an event not just for Global Samaritan. This is for all of Abilene.”Board Members and member of the community were on hand for the Global Samaritan Resources press conference concering former Secretary of State Rice’s coming to town.
