What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment as a public servant?I have not been a public servant yet.What do you feel like is the greatest challenge facing the city of Abilene, and what would you do to solve it?The biggest challenge is economic growth followed by flooding and street maintenance {{more}}Sometimes the citizens have a cynical attitude when it comes to elected officials. The attitude is a we versus them attitude. What are you doing or what will you do to foster an environment where every citizen feels important?If I am elected I would seek citizens input on what they think is important to them.How do you believe the citizens of Abilene can help make this a better community?I think the citizens of Abilene should be more willing to allow economic growth.What makes you uniquely qualified to serve on the City Council?I’m a concerned citizen who would like to see the City of Abilene be more responsible and transparent with the tax payers money!*According to a poll conducted by The Associated Press – NORC Center for Public Affairs research, they found that more than 8 in 10 Americans favor a federal law preventing mentally ill people from purchasing guns, along with a federal law expanding background check requirements to include gun shows and private sales. How would you feel, if that was implemented in Abilene and Taylor County?These measures are already in place. The agencies that are responsible for reporting these issues to the FBI and proper agencies involved in the gun background check are not being notified. I don’t believe there are any new laws that would prevent any of these individuals listed from getting a gun period.It appears that we will probably have a large number of young voters engaged in the political process, because of the 17 individuals killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland FL. Do you agree or disagree with their activism and why? Do you have a message for them?I would say to the younger voters if you see an issue that you feel that is not being addressed you should run. If you do feel that you should run have some money saved up before you do for campaigning!Do you believe that a person’s character is important in holding elected office? If you do please list one character trait one should have and state why you believe it’s important?I feel that any candidate that runs for office and is elected should never forget those who put them in office!We have seen campaigns where individuals have been extremely mean to each other. Could you pay your opponent one compliment?I would like to think I could. If you could have dinner with anyone from the past or currently living, who would it be and why?I would like to have dinner with Franklin D Roosevelt. I would ask him how he would create more jobs. Abilene has Dyess AFB and the Medical Field but I would like to see more jobs created in other fields for diversityTell us a little about your family, hobbies, etc.I’m from KS moved to TX in 1985. I was raised in the Air Force. My father is retired Master Sergeant AF and my mother is a retired middle school teacher. I have been a LVN since 2001. I also have a daughter that is 17.
