City Plan Special Election For Council Place 4

By Floyd Miller

ABILENE, Texas – Place 4 City Council member John Hill turned in his resignation from the City Council today, March 9, to City Secretary Jo Moore. He indicated {{more}}in his resignation letter that he would “continue to serve in this post until a replacement for this office has been elected.”The timing of Hill’s resignation allows the city, under state election law, to call a special election for May 13 to fill the Place 4 vacancy. This special election could be held in conjunction with the already scheduled city election for Council Place 1 and Place 2, and the city bond election. If the Council, at its March 23 meeting, approves the calling of such a special election for May 13, candidates could file for Place 4 from March 24 until March 31.
