Chili Day was a Success

The 60th Annual Chili Day hosted by the Greater Kiwanis Club was a success. A record number of individuals showed up to eat a good bowl of Chili, some tacos and a bowl of peach cobbler topped off with a big scoop of ice cream . I was at the Cobbler and Ice Cream booth some of our customers felt a bit guilty about going off of their diets but they “ couldn’t resist” . After enjoying a good meal many went over to the Silent Auction area The Chili Day is also a great opportunity to see old friends and meet new ones. I visited with one of my clients she’s very busy at 91. She told me that she was going to her church to view a movie after finishing her Chili. Marilyn and I also met a lady who had just moved back to Abilene after spending 49 years as a teacher in Denver, Colorado. She plans to come back next year. The chili Day brings out the best in our Community we had many volunteers the Dyess We Care Team, Boy Scouts Troop 222, the Girl Scouts, CHS Key Club and the Abilene Community Band “ they were jamming”.The best thing about Chilli Day is that you were there. All the money raised at this event goes to help the children in our community. The Kiwanis Motto is One Cild One Community at a time.
