Backporch Productions Announces New Permanent Location and Lineup for Outlaws & Legends Music Festival

Mark Powell, owner of BackporchProductions, announced Tuesday, October 23, 2012 the opening of “The Back Porchof Texas” as a significant venue addition to the Abilene community. The BackPorch of Texas, located off of I-20 and Hwy 277, will function not only as thepermanent site for Outlaws & Legends, but also be available for privatefunctions, weddings and trail ride purposes for the community. The site wasoriginally an operating event location and dude ranch in the mid-1980’s andPowell is in the midst of restoring the property for similar purposes. The Back Porch of Texas willofficially open for the 3rd Annual Outlaws & Legends Music Festival, March22-23, 2013. Today, Mark Powell announced details of the 3rd annualstate-wide event to members of the media and past sponsors. Most notably wasthe announcement of CMA Hall of Famer, Multi-Grammy Award Winner, and countrymusic legendary icon Merle Haggard to headline this year’s event. Co-headliningis Texas Music chart-topper and Mercury recording artist, Randy Rogers Band.This year’s line-up also includes Nashville hit-maker, Lee Roy Parnell and alsoGary P. Nunn, Jamie Richards, Cody Johnson, George Ducas, Two Tons of Steel,Thom Shepherd, James Lann, Jerrod Medulla, Bracken Hale, and many others tojoin Mark Powell & Lariat as this year’s entertainers. {{more}} A more regionalSinger/Songwriter Competition will return to Abilene and other Texas markets,with the overall winner taking the first spot in this year’s lineup. Also, theFriday acoustic sessions will continue in similar format to last year,featuring the elite songwriters from Texas and some from Nashville. Backporch Productions is alsopleased to continue partnership with Texas Roadhouse Live for live filming ofthe event, which is syndicated over 17 major markets throughout the south. Thisexclusive partnership is intended to help bring even more tourist to Abilenethrough the aired 136 episodes aired from Shreveport, LA to El Paso, TX. With the addition of a newpermanent location and headlining country music superstar Merle Haggard,”Biggest 1-Day, 1-Stage Event in Texas” should continue to propel as an elitemusic festival in the state of Texas. Early-bird tickets are available forspecial discounted prices of $35 from now until December 1, 2012. Normal advanced pricing will start in December andcontinue through March 21, 2012. Ben Richey Boys Ranch will be the recipient ofa portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold.
