Aspiring Opera Singer to Perform At MLK Banquet
Shalesia Brown a music graduate of the Abilene Christian University, will perform at the MLK Banquet. She has been involved in music for over 15 years, accomplishing many honors as a 2- year TMEA all-state choir member, and medaled as an Outstanding Performer at UIL Solo & Ensemble while attending Longview High School. She was also a 2- year TMEA honor choir member while attending Panola College from 2003-2005. After graduating Panola College, she arrived at ACU in Fall of 2006 to pursue her Bachelor’s degree. There she also was granted many honorable opportunities, such as ACU Sing Song hostess in 2007 along with many honorable accomplishments in the ACU Music Department. Even with the minor setback in earlier years of having to drop out for three years in order to start a new life with her loving husband, a pregnancy, and taking care of her youngest sibling, she fought tooth and nail to make sure she held on to the dream of seeing her as well as her new family reach for the stars and never give up. She returned back to school in January of 2011 with two children, and pregnant with her third. After making it through school that semester, she had her then new baby girl and returned to school going half time three weeks after giving birth. She graduated in Spring of 2013 with a BA in music. She has recently become a member of the Abilene Harmony Club, where she gave an outstanding recital and has been asked to come back in February by request. Now Shalesia is a wife and mother of four children, and very involved in her church, where she is one of the music coordinators and a director of the music department. She plans in her very near future to pursue her teacher’s certification and a little later accomplish great things along with her loving husband David Brown, whom also is a very talented musician and singer , and determined to pave the way for their children to seek God at His plans for them and to do it with complete excellence.
