An echo of beautiful music created good vibes that led to laughter and joyful dancing as the bongos blended in with the beat of the electric guitar, and the congregation sang praise and worship songs with the choir. The three nights of revival ignited a powerful Holy Spirit presence into Availing Prayers Ministry Church in Abilene, Texas last month. These lyrics went to a song sang at the beginning of the first service. “I am no longer bound. My Lord will bless me. Hallelujah! I am free. Praise the Lord, I am no longer bound. The chains are bound. My soul is resting. No situation gets me down. My soul is resting. My soul is resting. He’s got the river in my soul. My soul is resting.”{{more}}A powerful message was given by a special guest who was welcomed by Pastor Daphne McNeal. She had prepared all members who participated in a two day sleep in retreat with fasting and praying at the church before the revival. “What we have not had in a long time is a preacher. I want to introduce Pastor Frank Ugoeze Uwakwe who is here from California and originally from Nigeria. When he goes back to Nigeria to bury his sister who just passed, we want the brother to know he is blessed in Abilene.” Pastor Daphne McNeil. Photo by Frances Gonzalez“Are you happy tonight? Has the Lord been good to you? Every morning I awake and give a kiss to my father. Father, we declare we love you. We declare everlasting love for you,” said Pastor Uwakwe. Uwakwe shared that he grew up as a Catholic and his father was a Bishop in his country. His family lived in a prominent big house. He was the youngest and only son, and his eight older sisters. He was like a miracle child after his mother had given birth to his sisters. When my mother did not have a male child, she was called an “outcast.” He explained, that was the name that Africa women get called by Jewish people, if they keep giving birth to just girls. His mother was very disappointed, and started praying that God would give her a son. Pastor Uwakwe shared about the happy experience his mother went through when she was pregnant, and he was in her womb. She no longer was considered an “outcast”, and people would say good things welcoming the baby boy.The congregation listened as Pastor Uwakwe shared his story about his mother, and also something about his life. He sang these entrance song lyrics on his second day of preaching. “His eyes are on a sparrow. I sing because I am happy and free, and I know he watches me. Lord, I am chasing after you. No matter what I have to do, I need you more now, Lord. How many of you need him more tonight? I bring you greetings from California. It is wonderful place. God is about to do something in this place. There is a God that knows all things. There is nothing that can take us by surprise,” Pastor Uwakwe said. “I do not know why you came here tonight, but I tell you, you came here to receive the presence of the Lord.” “How many people are concerned about what people are saying, but are not concerned about what Jesus is saying? I wonder who has called you a name. The gospel is beautiful. You have to change your name. God is not looking at you. Every promise in your life will come to pass. There is nothing in the capacity that God can destroy in you when every man or woman that has called you names with his mouth closed. There is nothing that God cannot do through you. Jesus died on the cross for you. No man can defeat you! The God is in you is too powerful. Why are you concerned about what people are saying about you? Because you are on top! I have the good news. You have so much in you. You are loaded,” Uwakwe said. “You are not an accident. You are here because your Mom and Dad had you. God already had it planned before you came here. The sermon that Pastor Uwakwe gave was about the power of the gospel, and how it increases the capacity given to each individual. Uwakwe asked the congregation to turn in their bibles to Romans 10:1, Daniel 2:10-12, and 37-38 so they could follow along. “The word of God in the book of Daniel comes with amazing qualification. When the King began to inquire that there was a problem in the land, the people always became confused. Daniel Availing Prayer Ministry Choir. Photo by Frances Gonzalezlost his dream because he did not have the Holy Spirit in him. When you focus on your position of who you are, you become of man. When you become a man, you die; you lose your vision, your purpose. When the Holy Spirit dwells in you, you can do all things. The bible says this man was confused as well as the King. There might be someone in here tonight that is confused. God has come to destroy every problem. God is alive, and there is nothing that you and I are going through, that God is not aware of, because he is God. You do not understand why God can use Daniel. He was born in a house of a King,” said Pastor Uwakwe. “The enemy has been telling you that you do not amount to nothing. I am here to tell you, you are from the tribe of Juda. God is in you.” “How many of us have withdrawn from God because of what people have said about them. If God could change your name, your enemies will run away because your God is powerful,” said Uwakwe. “No one can destroy your destiny, because you are the apple of his eye. Daniel was enslaved. Many of you have been free, but feeling like you are enslaved, but I am here to tell you that your situation is going to change.”The powerful message that Pastor Uwakwe gave was left with the congregation on the last night. Two people were baptized by the pastor after he made an altar call and asked who wanted to accept Jesus Christ as their savior. He expressed his gratitude to Pastor Daphne McNeal for inviting him to her church, and shared that everyone should be grateful for such an awesome woman of God who is very visionary. “In the name of Jesus, let us all go home in peace,” Pastor Uwakwe said.
