ACU student receives Gilman Scholarship

Abilene Christian University student Christine Tamez, a sophomore Journalism major from Stockdale, Texas has been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad as part of the ACU in Latin America program. She will be traveling to Montevideo, Uruguay in spring 2008. A congressionally ## M: Read More ## funded program, The Gilman Scholarship Program provides funding for undergraduate students who wish to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. Tamez was one of 1,369 undergraduate students applying to be considered for 400 available awards. The detailed application process includes an application and a statement of purpose essay.The last ACU student to become a Gilman Scholar was Sally Stevens, who received the scholarship in fall 2006.
