ACU announces recipients for 2009 Gutenberg Award

Abilene Christian University’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication has named the recipients for the annual Gutenberg Award honoring distinguished alumni. This year’s honorees are Skip Dampier , Brittany Huckabee and Cynthia Patterson Nellis . Skip Dampier is vice president – planning for Rapp Collins agency in Dallas. He recently was designated as the global planner for the over Hewlett-Packard account, which is worth over $1 billion. He has worked in major advertising agencies in Texas and the Midwest for more than a decade.Brittany Huckabee is the founder and principal of Version One Productions, Inc., a television production company based in Boston and Washington, D.C. Prior to this position, Huckabee served as a frequent producer and director for the Washington-based production company New River Media, where her credits included four documentaries and two weekly series that aired nationally on PBS. Most recently, Huckabee produced, directed and edited the three-hour historical documentary series “Heaven on Earth: The Rise and Fall of Socialism.”Cynthia Patterson Nellis publishes and edits the fashion site for, a New York Times Company, from her home in East Texas. She has been involved in online news media for more than 10 years. The Gutenberg Award dinner is Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Hunter Welcome Center on the ACU campus.
