Abilene’s Juneteenth Celebration

By Dorothy Drones

time for friends

Throughout the years there have been Pastors who have taught bible study at G.V. Daniels Center. Their efforts are greatly appreciated.

However, currently every Wednesday the bible study group is being taught by Pastor James Webb.

Even though the teaching of God’s word has touched and enriched the lives of those attending, last year God gave Pastor Webb a vision and desire to do more.

Upon sharing his vision with the group his vision became a reality. We acquired a name and chose a scripture that defines our purpose.

Our Goals are as follows:

A summary of our accomplishments, in November 2018 we supplied funds to assist the Salvation Army with Thanksgiving meals. In December 2018, we provided turkeys and hams for six needy families and visited the local nursing homes. We also provided funds for two children to attend G.V. Daniels Summer Recreation Programs.

On June 19, 2019, in celebration of Juneteenth, lunch was provided from 11 am until 2 pm at G.V. Daniels Center for all area citizens.
