Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union Presented, Skip-A-Payment Check, to the Boys & Girls Club

ABILENE, TEXAS The Boys & Girls Club of Abilene received another exceptional gift from the Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union and its members on Saturday during the Spring Fling being held at the Martinez Boys & Girls Club located at 1301 Clinton, on the Martinez Elementary School Campus. This generous gift of $181,000 will bring{{more}} the cumulative total since Skip-A-Pay began to $1,231,000! The Spring Fling is a carnival for Boys & Girls Club kids complete with games, cake walk, aircastles, obstacle courses, and prizes. Hot dogs, popcorn, and lemonade were provided. The popular Skip-A-Pay program is conducted from November to January each year. Members in goodstanding are allowed to skip up to two payments on personal and vehicle loans during that period for a $10 feeper ‘skip’. The entire amount is then passed along to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Abilene. Many financial institutions employ similar programs but ATFCU is unusual in that they don’t retain a single penny of the fees collected. Rather, they have chosen to invest in Abilene’s future. “At Abilene Teachers FCU, we believe that it is incredibly important to support community-based organizationsthat work hard to improve lives in the Abilene region. The Boys & Girls Clubs provide important guidance, programming and mentoring to children and youth and we are pleased to partner with them,” said James Boyd, CEO of the Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union. “It is amazing what Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union and its members do for the children of this community and this particular program makes a huge impact on our ability to serve as many youth as we do. To see their members grow this fundraiser from $36,000 to $181,000 over the span of a few years ishumbling,” said Mark Young, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Abilene.
